My Philosophy for Better Health

I have a passion for naturopathic medicine because it combines the best of the science and art of medicine. I have been fully trained in the medical sciences and diagnostic techniques. I have learned how to heal using plants, diet, lifestyle, nutrition, vitamins, counseling, homeopathy, hydrotherapy, and physical medicine.

I work with the philosophy of the healing power of nature. In other words, the body inherently attempts to be healthy. I am here to guide you on that journey to greater health by supporting the body in its healing process, in whatever way is needed. I also assist the whole of the individual. You are greater than the sum of your parts, and the whole (body mind and spirit) needs to be looked at to achieve optimum health.

I have been excited about health since I was a young child.  I always wondered why some people always got sick and others never did.  Like many people I was told ‘that’s just the way it is’.  That explanation never sat right with me.  As I got older, I started to notice how people treated their bodies, and how they lived their lives, had a great impact on their health and their ability to enjoy life.

While I was receiving my Bachelors degree in Biology from SUNY Stony Brook, I started to see for myself how my personal choices affect my health.  Simply with lifestyle and food choices I got to a healthy weight, got into better shape, became more energetic, felt more in touch with my body, and overall felt better in my life.

After a few years of looking at many different fields to enter into, I discovered naturopathic medicine, and was amazed that I could be a doctor AND help people become healthy by using all the ways I found to be most beneficial and supportive.  I found Bastyr University was the best fit for me, and that is where I received my medical degree in 2004.

I then took my board exams, received my license to practice medicine in Washington State, and came back to my hometown in New York to start my practice.  Even though we currently have no licensing laws in New York, I was, and still am, very passionate about my style of medicine and I believe it should be made available to everyone who wants to realize their full health potential.  I am currently a Board Member of the New York Association of Naturopathic Physicians, where I help in the legislative effort to pass licensing laws for Naturopathic Doctors.  If you would like to help by contacting your state representatives, please clickhere to support ND licensure in New York.

I currently see patients at Long Island Naturopathic in Islip, NY. I have had such great success and fun with assisting my patients in improving their lives over the last 5 years, and I will enjoy assisting you as well. It will be a pleasure to begin a health journey with you.
